Lars Bygdén formed in 1996 the country rock group The Thousand Dollar Playboys. The group released two influential albums, toured Europe and US and dissolved in 2003. He then continued as solo artist and in 2005 came his first solo album, Trading Happiness for Songs, including a duet with Ane Brun.2009 came Family Feelings and in 2012 LB. 2018 he enjoyed massive success with Dark Companion.
