A Bird and a Star

by LB [Lars Bygdén]

about

In 2018 Lars Bygdén released the bleak masterpiece Dark Companion. An album revolving around his wife’s sickness and death. His new album picks up where the last ends. This, the opening track, finds Lars and his daughter at the vicar picking out symbols for the stone. Lars chose a bird, the daughter a star. A dark gospel about love and loss. Amazing arrangement 60s style, topped with gripping vocals and lyrics.

lyrics

There's a place in my pillow
Where you screamed in pain
There’s a crack in the blinds
Where moon shines in

There’s a light at the end of the corridor
And to that light I go
That light holds no promise
But it’s the light of hope

Distant ships, endless sky
A drone is hovering above
Recording our lives
How can we still be alright?
At the end of this long night

There's a room where your body lies
Your name says that’s where you are
Through the water the sun shines down
On a bird and a star

I don't come here that frequently
But now I kneel by your side
I ask for your forgiveness
And I move a little further towards the light

Distant ships, endless sky
A drone is hovering above
Guarding our lives
How can we still be alright?
At the end of this long night
